Over the weekend of the 7th, 8th & 9th March 2025, teenage Rose Gardens Croquet Club player Katie Zentveld won the National Final of the Croquet New Zealand Don Reyland Memorial Stars Golf Croquet handicap competition at Matamata.  Each of the 19 croquet associations can enter one player, normally the winner of its association competition - which in turn comprises the winners of the club competitions.  16 of the 19 associations sent representatives.  Play was on a handicap basis where players compete to be first to reach 7 points, from a starting score that depends on their handicap.

Katie won 13 of her 15 games and finished one win ahead of runner-up Ron Ereckson from Marlborough.

Katie started playing croquet with her parents and sister in October 2023 and has progressively improved her croquet and reduced her handicap from 8 to 5.
